RUSSIA DROPS RECYCLED HIGH EXPLOSIVE AIR BOMB ON KHARKIV REGION, DESTROYING ENTIRE STREET

Russians struck the territory of the Kupyansk district of the Kharkiv region with refitted FAB-1500 bombs, destroying an entire street. An elderly woman was killed as a result of the attack, according to the head of the investigative department of the Kharkiv region police, Serhii Bolvinov.

"Everything around shook as if an earthquake had begun. With one strike, an entire street was destroyed. Residents of the village of Monachynivka had to feel and see such. The enemy unleashed a powerful weapon - a 1.5-ton high-explosive aviation bomb - on people and their homes," Bolvinov's message said.

He added that there were no more than a hundred local residents left in this border village, no military personnel.

"The Russians equipped the FAB-1500 with a special module so that the bomb could glide in the air after being launched from an aircraft," explained the investigator.

He emphasized that the use of such powerful weaponry against the population of the Kharkiv region was used by the Russians for the first time.

"The only thing they managed to achieve was to destroy the homes of the villagers and kill an 88-year-old woman. Her body was retrieved from the rubble after the strike," the message said.

Shelling of Kharkiv

Shelling of Kharkiv and the region began from the early hours of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in late February 2022. Since then, the city has been experiencing regular bombings and shelling by Russian forces.

During this time, the Kharkiv region has become one of the most affected by Russia's aggressive war. Many residential buildings, schools, hospitals, and other civilian objects have been destroyed or damaged.

On May 5, 2024, Russian occupiers carried out an air strike on the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv. As a result of the shelling, residential buildings, private structures, and vehicles were damaged.
