PARIS POLICE ARREST MAN THREATENING TO BLOW HIMSELF UP AT IRAN CONSULATE

An armed man entered the Iranian consulate in Paris and threatened to blow himself up early on Friday, according to police.

The man entered the building at carrying what appeared to be a grenade and explosive vest at 11am French time, before he was arrested by police and the area was cordoned off, Reuters reported.

French authorities have not said whether there is any link to ongoing heighted tensions between Iran and Israel.

No one was reported injured in the incident, but French police have advised people to avoid the nearby area, and a portion of the nearby Metro network was also off.

The Iranian embassy building is in the Rue Fresne area, close to the Eiffel Tower and the River Seine – a historic district popular with tourists.
