FARMERS SHOW BLACK FLAGS TO SONIPAT BJP CANDIDATE, POLICE INTERVENES

JIND: In a series of protests, farmers showed black flags and opposed the programs of Sonipat BJP candidate Mohan Lal Badoli on Tuesday. Police had to intervene to pacify protesting farmers. The BJP candidate faced strong opposition from farmers and villagers on Monday in Julani village and the same was witnessed on Tuesday in Intal Kalan village. Since the BJP candidate started his campaign in villages of all three segments of Jind district, which come under Sonipat Lok Sabha seats, he has been facing the ire of villagers and farmers consecutively.

Farmers asked Badoli to leave the village, saying that he was silent on the deaths of farmers during the 2020-21 protest against the now repealed three farm laws. They pointed out that out of over 100 farmers from Haryana who lost their lives during that time, the highest number, 19, were from Jind district, but BJP leaders kept silent on this issue.

Local BJP MLA Krishan Midda, who was accompanying Badoli, made an effort to pacify them but in vain. They had heated arguments at the spot, following which the police had to intervene. BJP leaders failed to make the farmers understand. Mohan Lal Badoli repeatedly asked them to explain the reason for his boycott, following which farmers stated that they will oppose BJP candidates who backed the three agro marketing laws.

Notably, BJP and JJP leaders who were in alliance with the saffron party recently have been facing protests from farmers and villagers in the rural belt. Sirsa BJP candidate Ashok Tanwar, Hisar BJP candidate Ranjit Chautala, Rohtak BJP nominee Arvind Sharma, former chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who is the Karnal Lok Sabha BJP candidate, are among those who have been facing protests in their constituencies. Besides, former deputy chief minister and BJP leader Dushyant Chautala, his father Ajay Chautala, mother Naina Chautala, who is the Hisar Lok Sabha candidate as well, and his brother Digvijay Chautala are also facing consecutive ire.
