LIVERPOOL SHOOTING: POLICE LOCK DOWN RESIDENTIAL ROAD AFTER MAN GUNNED DOWN IN HOUSE

Cops in Liverpool have shut down a street as forensic teams investigate an incident which saw a man shot. As a result, Grenfell Road in the Clubmoor area of the city has been cordoned off and there is a noticeable police presence in the area.

The victim of the shooting arrived at the hospital early on Sunday with a non-life-threatening injury to his shoulder, reports LiverpoolEcho.

Witnesses have reported the arrival of police and paramedics on Saturday, March 25, just before 9 pm.

Merseyside Police have released a statement confirming a shooting victim is a man aged 20 who suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

The police statement read: "The 20-year-old male victim, who is refusing to co-operate with detectives, self-presented at hospital in the early hours of this morning with a gunshot injury to his shoulder, which is not life threatening.

Officers were called at about 8.30pm following reports to the ambulance service that a man had been shot at an address on Grenfell Road.

When officers arrived at the address the man had already left in a taxi.

At 12.45am the injured male self-presented at hospital with a gunshot injury to his shoulder."

House-to-house have been taking place along the street with detectives going door-to-door.

Detective chief inspector Mike Dalton said: "At this moment in time the victim is refusing to co-operate with us and I would urge him to change his mind.

The offender, or offenders, involved in this incident had no regard for innocent members of the public in that area and they need to be taken off the streets and put before the courts.

"I would appeal to anyone in the community who has any information to come forward, together we can make a difference and make your streets safer.

"We will not stand by and let these abhorrent people cause fear and intimidation in our local communities."

"We are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun crime and will do anything in our power to remove these individuals from our streets and put them behind bars."
