M25 TRAFFIC CHAOS AFTER MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH EMERGENCY AND FLOODING HALTS SUNDAY DRIVERS

Emergency services have been called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash and flooding on the , causing to grind to a halt on the motorway. According to National Highways, the incident occurred on the anticlockwise section between junctions 12 and 11, resulting in gridlock.

National Highways said on Twitter: "Traffic has been STOPPED on the # M25 anti-clockwise in #Surrey between J12 (#M3) and J11 (#Chertsey) due to a multi-vehicle collision. Emergency services are in attendance. More information to follow shortly."

SurreyLive has reported that while traffic which was held following the crash has now reopened a lane of the M25 is still closed due to flooding there is still a lot of congestion.

Inrix reports: "Severe delays due to accident, now on the hard shoulder on M25 anticlockwise around J12 M3 J2.

"Congestion to J13 (Staines). Queues almost back to J10 (Wisley Interchange) clockwise due to onlookers.

"All lanes have been reopened.Traffic has finally been released after the road being blocked for quite a while.

"There is also a flooding lane closure at J11."

Earlier on Sunday, National Highway tweeted: "Traffic remains HELD on the #M25 anti-clockwise in #Surrey between J12 (#M3) and J11 (#Chertsey) due to a multi-vehicle collision.

All vehicles are now on the hard shoulder.

"We're clearing a fuel spillage and will have traffic released very shortly."

They later followed up with an update saying: "Traffic has now been released on the #M25 anti-clockwise in #Surrey between J12 (#M3) and J11 (#Chertsey)."1 lane (of 4) remains closed at this time due to surface water."There's a 30-minute delay with 3.5 miles of congestion on approach."
